COLLEGE ST. SCHOOL.

The College Street School Committee met last evening, Mr H. G. Mills presiding. Other members present were Messrs E. Persson, E. T. Cruickshank, L. Paddy, J. Creighton, C. C. Aitkon, L. I. Plimmer (treasurer), R. A. Brace (secretary), and A. H. McLean (headmaster). In hia report, the headmaster stated that the present roll number was 512. He reported with regret that Miss Terry, a member of the teaching staff, had ‘sustained a rather serious leg injury oil July 18 owing to a-n accident while playing basketball on the school ground. She was now making satisfactory progress. Mrs Allen returned on July 22 after relieving on the staff at the" Hokowliitu School and on August 1 was temporarily transferred to Russell Street School. The school was inspected by the district inspectors and the annual medical inspection took place from July lb to July 19. Preparations for the annual fancy dress ball were well advanced and everything pointed to a successful function. The report concluded with reference to minor repairs and maintenance to the school and grounds. Accounts totalling £2O 17s 2d were passed for payment A resolution expressing sympathy with Miss Terry in her illness and wishing her a speedy recovery was carThe chairman, on behalf of the committee, congratulated the headmaster on the favourable report concerning the school submitted by the inspectors.
