SHANNON. Aug. 5. The parishioners of A T cn. Bede’s Anglican Church learned with regret that one .of (heir lay readers. Mr P. W. Bass, of Palmerston North, had conducted his last service of evensong at Shannon on Sunday, Julv 23. Mr Bass has been thirty vears a. lay reader, fifteen of those being given to Von. Bede’s Church. Since leaving Shannon to reside in Palmerston North lie came down regularly once a month to conduct a service. Failing eyesight necessitated Air Bass giving up his service of love.
