OBITUARY

ADMIRAL H. W. PARKER. Received August 2, 11 a.m. LONDON, Aug. 1. The death has occurred of Admiral H. W. Parker. The late Admiral Parker, who was horn in 1875, entered the Navy in 1889. He commanded H.M.S. Benbow at the Battle of Jutland in 1916, being mentioned in despatches and awarded the C.B. Other naval posts he held were: Director of Operations Division of Naval Staff, 1922-24; Commander of H.M.S. Repulse in Empire cruise, 1924; Director of Naval Equipment, 1926-28; Rear-Admiral Commanding First Cruiser Squadron, Mediterranean Fleet, 1928-30; Admiral Commanding Reserves, 1931-33. He was placed on the retired list in 1934.
