GENERAL NEWS.
HOCKEY. Results of hockey matches in Feilding on Saturday are:— Kia Ora 4 v. Huia 3; Wanderers 4 v. Marton 3. Soldiers’ Comforts. Donations of knitted goods and contributions for parcels received at the depot for soldiers’ comforts in Feilding are acknowledged from the following : —Pohangina Women’s Patriotic Society, Awahuri Sewing Guild, Mrs W. J. Entwisle, Mrs Henry Burrell, Miss Smithers, Miss Crabb, Manchester Street SchooP(food covers and handkerchiefs), Colyton Women’s Institute and completed parcels from the Cheltenham, Makino. Kimbolton and Bulls Womenks Institutes. Parents’ Association.
Mr T. Donaldson was re-elected president of the Lytton Street School Parents’ Association at the annual meeting of the association. Other executive officers re-elected were Messrs G. Wilkinson (vice-president) and D. J. Hay (hon. secretary). A donation of two guineas was made to the Red Cross Appeal. It was decided that part of the profits from the next children’s fancy dress ball be devoted to the patriotic effort. A strong committee was set.up to make arrangements for the function.
