ENEMY ALIENS.
(To the Editor.) Sir,—l wish to thank “Tempus Fugit” for his letter and support in last night’s “Standard.” I also read “Loyal N.Z. Britisher’s” remarks. It makes one’s blood boil to think there are disloyal people in our midst. When will the powers that be awaken fully to iihis matter? I for one do not wish to see the same things happen here that are happening in the Old Country, but I would have an easier mind if all aliens were rounded up and under cover while we have yet time. This is not to say that I am afraid of wliat they could do, but any person who has the least leanings or sympathy for the dictators or their methods should not he allowed to enjoy the freedom of this country. The Italians have adopted tlie German methods on the sea rather than have their ships fall into British hands. They scuttle them, and British sailors rislr their lives by diving into, the sea to save them. I think the British Admiralty should broadcast and let them know if they prefer to scuttle their ships rather than surrender, then they should be prepared for what befalls them because it is not fair that our sailors should he asked to risk * their lives to save them. I am sure that would put an end to this scuttling business. —I am, etc., , mnrr BLACK WATCH.
