Rumania and Germany have signed a new trade treaty, though Rumania has resisted two of the German demands. One was that more oil from Rumanian wells reach Germany—the quantity, however, is to remain at 130.000 tons a month. Since last year German supplies from Rumanian sources have dropped by 22 per cent., though supplies to Britain have increased by 7 per cent. Further depreciation of the Rumanian currency in terms of the reiclimark lias not been granted Germany. The mark and the lei are to remain in their present relationship. An official gazette in Bucharest states that no armed merchantmen are permitted to enter the Rumanian stretch of the Danube. They must deposit arms at Sulina and Bazias.
