McLean, Flock 345 one of the early Romney flocks founded on almost pure “Parorangi” (E. Short) blood. Since its foundation the Matapuna flock has been carefully line bred, incorporating by the careful use of outside sires the ntost popular strains of Romney blood such as those founded bv the famous rams Premier and Brazil and other families which have proved successful in the Penrose, Leedstown, Parorangi and Waiorongomai flocks. The flock has been heavily culled annually, and for the last twelve years all ewes retained for breeding purposes have been inspected and tattooed by the Society.
