HOUSEHOLD HINTS.
If a disk stick's to table baize or shelf, do not try to pull it off, but fill the dish with hot water, and leave for a minute or two. The dish can then be lifted without leaving an unsightly mark. Old green peas will become sweet and soft as voung peas if they are steamed for one hour. Renew the frayed edges of a rug by putting a strong blind cord along the worn margins and working over it several times with heavy wool that is in colour harmony with the rug. When making egg sandwiches, use scrambled instead of hard-boiled eggs. Avoid excessive moisture.
