Immediately after being sentenced to twelve months’ imprisonment for larceny at the Central Police Court, Sydney, Thomas Drury, aged 29, drew a razor-blade from his pocket and in full view of evei'yone slashed his throat from ear to ear. He collapsed in the dock, where the police rendered first aid and rushed Drury, who was declared to be an habitual criminal to hospital.
