ASSAULTS ALLEGED.

INCIDENTS IX CITY. Reports have been made to the police alleging two cases of assaults by Maoris on Sunday evening. In one instance Air C. H. Holland, of 73 Clielwood Street, saw two Maoris looking under a blind of,a private house and asked them what they were doing there. The Alaoris, it is stated, thereupon went into the street, assaulted him, and made off. The other instance concerned a young woman resident of Ferguson Street. She was followed by two Maoris, it is stated, one taking her by the wrist. Some people passed in a car and the driver stopped, alighted from the vehicle and remonstrated with the Alaoris. He had just lately left hospital, however, and Air A. H. Coslett, of Pitt Street, then intervened. He was also a recent patient in a hospital. Pastor G. Stirling, of the Church of Christ, then came on the scene. He also was struck, and the Alaoris ra.n away.

Both incidents are being investigated by the police.
