CANADIAN STRIKE.

Received April 19, 9.20 a.m. NEW YORK, April 18. The Ottawa correspondent of the American United Press says the War Measures Act is likely to be invoked if the Great Lakes shipping strike is not settled to-night.

Coinciding with the .opening of the lakes and the heaviest shipping soason since the Great War, 6500 Great Lakes seamen have struck, demanding higher wages and larger crews (slated an Ottawa message published last Tuesday). The vessels affected total 285.
