]! ILKY —OLSEN. A very pretty wedding: was solemnised at the Lutheran Church on Kcbntarv 10, when Joy Mildred Mary Olsen, eldest daughter of Air and Alls N. C. Olsen, of Palmerston North, was muted in lionds of holy matrimony to Douglas Claud, youngest son of Air and Airs 0. Riley, Palmerston North. Rev. A. Christensen was the officiating minister. The chureh had been prettily decorated by friends ol the bride in pink, blue and cream flowers. The bride looked very charming as she entered the church escorted by her lather to the strains of the Wedding Alarcli, played by .Miss L. Christensen. Her dress of magnolia slipper satin was made on classical lines, the corsage being set into a pointed panel with ripple wave shirring, as also were the long sleeves, coming to a point over the hands, the skirt falling into a train with pearl trimmings. Pearls also trimmed the bodice. The bridal veil of tulle (lent by a cousin) was fitted to tlie head with a coronet of orange blossom. and over this a priceless lace scarf (also lent hv a friend) was worn. She carried a shower bouquet of carnations in deep cream and palest pink, deep cream satin shoes completing a charming toi'et. The chief bridesmaid was Atiss Gladys Sievcrt, whose dress was cornflower blue sheer over satin in the same shade, with satin shoes to tone. She wore a Juliet cap of pink and blue flowers and carried a shower bouquet of pink lilies and carnations. The two flower girls. Betty and Dawn Olsen, sisters of the bride, wore deep cream net and lace over satin, with sashes and hustle hows in deep pink and cornflower blue satin, respectively, and they carried baskets of pink and blue cornflour and sweet peas. Afr Ray Riley, of Dunedin (brother of the bridegroom), was best man. As the bridal party left the church the bride was presented with a deep cream flower horseshoe by little Audry Nixon, niece of the bridegroom. After the ceremony the guests were entertained at the P.D.C. tearooms. Airs Olsen, assisted by Mrs Riley, welcomed the guests. Afrs Olsen wearing a grey ensemble with burgundy applique and accessories in the same tone, and carrying a bouquet of wine pom-pom dahlias and sweet peas. Afrs Riley, mother of the bridegroom, wore a black silk lace dress, with black hat trimmed with red roses, ancl she carried a bouquet of scarlet roses. After the breakfast the usual toasts were honoured. The wedding cake, made by Mrs Riley, was much enjoyed. Visitors were present from Invercargill. Dunedin, Wellington and Auckland. Airs Wilkie., of Auckland, aunt of the bride, wore black georgette and lace with blue fox furs; Airs Sutherland, aunt of the bride, floral | georgette with black tailored coat and stone-marten furs; Afrs Lewer. Te Kuiti (aunt of the bridegroom), floral sheer with black silk coat. A short programme was enjoyed by the guests, Air D Spring contributing a solo, Airs Rowlev elocutionary items, Atiss Seiverts solo, and Betty and Dawn Olsen a duet. Airs Rowley accompanying. Later the happy couple left by car for Napier, where the honeymoon was spent-. The bride chose for her travelling suit a smart nppbqued noerushnble crepe in forest glow, with j matching tailored coat, and hat and brown accessories. Tn a Pollock Stars croquet match, played at the Northern Club’s greens, Mesdames T. Simpson and L. Wood (holders) beat Mesdames Bryant and Nicholson, 26- —23.
