MEAT SUPPLY CONTROL.
SIR FRANCIS BOYS’S WORK. NEW APPOINTMENTS. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Alarch 19. Further information relating to the appointments of Air H. S. E. Turner and Mr R. S. Forsyth has been received by mail from London. Sir Francis Boys resigned from the post of Director of Meat and Live Stock on January 31. The Ministry of Food explained that Sir Francis, who was 70 years of age, was Director of Meat Supplies in the last war and it had been well understood that, while he was prepared to return to get the .new scheme of control working, he wished subsequently to make way for a younger man. This he had done and the Alinister was indebted to him for his work in preparing the scheme which, incidentally, is always referred to inside the Ministry as the Boys scheme as a measure of recognition accorded to its author within the department. As the work of controlling supplies of meat is so heavy—too heavy for one man—and is divided naturally into two sections, the Minister has appointed to succeed Sir Francis Air H. S. E. Turner as Director of Live Stock and Home-Produced Aleat and Air Forsyth as Director of Imported Meat. Both have had considerable experience of the meat trade both in the United Kingdom and New Zealand. Air Turner was formerly New Zealand manager of the New Zealand Refrigerating Company and Air Forsyth was formerly London manager of the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board.
