McCARTEN PREMIER JOCKEY. G. PRICE LEADS TRAINERS. SYDNEY, July 30. The Sydney jockeys' premiership resulted in ;i win for the former New Zealander, M. McCartcn, with 87 wins unci | two dead-heats. \V. Lappin was second with 85 wins and four dead-heats, and E. McMenamin was third with 84 wins ami j three dead-heats. Then came D. Mtinro. 74 wins two dciid-hoats; E. Battle, 66 win<, throe dead-heats. McCartcn and Lappin were equal till the last race at Moorefield, in which McCartcn rode the winner. Lappin had no mount. For years McCartcn has been among- the leaders at the end of the season, hut thi> is his fust win in nineteen seasons in Australia. He is al-o the first jockey to have been the leading rider in both New Zealand and Australia. G. Price, a former New Zeulnnder, heads the list of trainers with 29 firsts,
