CHURCH FUNCTION.

St. David's Presbyterian congregation made occasion on Saturday evening to recognise the long term of sterling service to his Church given by Mr It. Hutching and to welcome Mrs Hutching to the Woodville district. There was a large number present on whose behalf Rev. D. H. Hay welcomed Mr and Mrs Hutching to their home town, and referred in glowing terms to Mr Hutching's work, especially as secretary to the board or managers over a number of years and as a Bible class leader. He then presented a china cabinet, a dinner wagon, and a fruit dish to the young couple with the good wishes of their many friends. Mrs J. M. Graham also welcomed Airs Hutching, who was active in Church work at Leeston, Canterbury, and presented her with a posy, bite •rave another to Mrs Hutching, senr. ° On behalf of the session Messrs J. M Graham and D. McGregor added praise for Mr Hutching. The former expressed pleasure that Mr aiyl Mrs Hutchings were to reside in the district and that their connection with the congregation would be continued. Mr Hutching thanked the speakers for their remarks and all present tor their gifts. He gave an assurance or his continued support to their community. . , Apologies for absence were received from Mr and Mrs C. Forbes Mrs C. L Hartridge, and Mrs T. Wlutcman.
