ITALIAN PARTY’S REVERSE.

MALTESE ELECTIONS. MALTA, July 27. The pro-British parties scored a resounding victory in the elections. In the Council the Italian party secured three seats only.

This is the first election held under the new Constitution granted in the strategically important British possession of Malta last February by the Governor-General (Sir Charles Bon-ham-Carter). Under this more liberal Const*!ution. there is a Council of Government composed of eight official members, two unofficial members, nominated hv the Governor, and 10 elected members. The Gcvernor presides over the Council with a casting vote.
