Both captains and nine of the Siinik’s crew were thrown overboard when tbc Siinik’s boilers burst after the collision and wore burned to death as they tried to swim through the flames.

A lifeboat began to burn while seorched rowers struggled to clear the danger zone. Several survivors were badly burned. The bows of the Grangesberg were set on fire while locked with the Sunik and wore still burning when it reached Falmouth this morning.
