SHOULD EXERCISE IN FRANCE

PARIS, July 27

M Beaugittc (chairman of the Chamber of Deputies Army Committee) suggests that British troops exercise in France, particularly in the Maginot Line. He points out that France’s new defences have createci an armaments system with which Britain is not acquainted. It is, therefore, necessary for the British to familiarise themselves with the fortifications which an expeditionary force would man, he said. INDIAN SOLDIERS. CONCENTRATION AT FIJI? BOMBAY, July 27. Following the dispatch of Indian troops to Egvpt it is learned that a hatch of Sikhs and Mahrattas will shortly go to Singapore. Tt, is believed a large concentration of Indian troops will shortly be .stationed at Fiji.

The War Office states that the despatch of certain troops at an early date from India to Egypt is a precautionary measure, and is intended to increase the strategic reserve in the Middle East.

Tt is welcomed by the Egyptian Government. There is no intention of sending tho troops to Palestine.
