MINISTER GIVES DENIAL

WELLINGTON, July 28,

Statements made in the House of Representatives on Thursday evening by Air H. S. S. Kyle (National, Riecarton), which he said gravely reflected upon the character ol the Director of Internal Alarketing (Air I. K. Pieot), were replied to by the DepuT>Leader of the House (Hon. P. Eraser), in a statement in the House to-day. Tt was clearly implied, il not explicitly stated, Air Eraser said, that Air Picot was receiving ah emolument as a. guarantor of an egg firm in addition to his salary from the State. “Inquiries have been made, and it has been ascertained definitely that Air Picot is not a guarantor to any egg firm, nor has lie boon since soon alter his appointment to the public service,” saiid Air Eraser. “All interests in produce or other firms whose interests might ho in any way affected by the operations of the Internal Alarketing Division wore relinquished by Air Picot as speedily as» possible after his appointment.” Full details of those interests were supplied to the Government prior to his appointment. Furthermore, he had not attended any annual meeting of any such firm since the inception of the Internal Alarketing Division.
