DOMINION AND DANISH. PRICES AT HOME. Per Press Association. ■WELLINGTON. July 28. Tlie House of Representatives (leveled this afternoon to a consideration of questions and Ministerial 'Replying to a question by Mr AY. J. Poison (National, Stratford) regarding the reported premium of 3d per lb charged in the multiple shops of Britain for retailing New Zealand butter against a charge of :|d for retailing Danish, the Prime Minister (Rt. Hon. At. J. Savage), who was still absent from the House to-day, in a written answer said the relation between the market prices and retail prices in Britain as shown by the average official weekly quotations of the London Provision Exchange for the 11 weeks ending Julv 28 were: New Zealand butter. —Average weekly market quotation Ills 3d per cwt., average retail price 128 s 2d. This showed a margin of 13s lid per cwt., or approximately lid per lb. Danish butter.—Average market quotation 124 s Od, average retail price 140 s, showing a margin of Ids Od per cwt., or approximately IJil per lb. On these figures there was a margin in favour of New Zealand butter of id I a pound. ' Air .Savage added that the Government, through the London office of the' I Alarketing Department, was continuing an active publicity campaign to keep New Zealand butter and cheese 1 before the consuming public of Britain 'and so further reduce the margin between the market prices of New Zea--1 land and Danish blitter.
