RONGOTEA’S STATUS.

ABSORPTION BY COUNTY. ARRANGEMENTS FURTHERED. Further decisions as to the terms oil which the Manawatu County Council would take over the Rongotea Town Board were reached at a meeting of the County Council yesterday. The chairman. (Cr. \Y. E. Barber! reported that a sub-committee bad met tbe Rongotea. Town Board. The board’s finances were fairly sound, provided the current year’s rates wore struck for an amount similar to last year’s. It had to be remembered that a third of the year had now gone. A suggestion had been made that a committee of the settlors lease the board's ball at a nominal rent and administer it. On tbe motion of Cr. A. N. Moreom, it was decided to maintain all the lights on the Longburn-Rongotca highway.

The clerk (Afr A. K. Drew) reported that if the residents wished to have special services, small amenities which would improve the township, a separate rate could he struck, so that these could he continued, or instituted, the townspeople to meet this small amount.
