SCHOOL BUS SERVICE.
DISAPPOINTING RESULT. “It- is very disappointing. Of the 32 letters sent out 24 persons replied and 16 refused to contribute 2s (id weekly for the children’s fare,” said flic chairman of the Palmerston North High Schools Board of Governors (Air M. H. Oram), at tho monthly meeting last night, when he referred to a portion of his report which dealt with an. attempt being made to inaugurate a special bus service from the Linton and Tokomaru districts which would enable pupils to arrive in town at S) o’clock each morning to begin their schooling. Mr Oram said in his report that, at tiie request of the Education Department, a circular letter was sent to the parents of the pupils corning into Palmerston North from those districts, advising them of the scheme. Eight parents were p,repared to pay their 2s Gd toward the cost of the service. “The result, which lias been conveyed to the department, will probably mean that negotiations will fall through,” Ah - Oram added. “Wo can do nothing further.”
