LONGBURN INSTITUTE.
Mrs A. Pierard presided over a good attendance at the May meeting of the Longburn Women’s Institute. Mesdames Young, Stevens and Murray were welcomed back and also a visitor from Auckland. There were two very interesting demonstrations, bags by Mrs Harris, and sulphured apples by Mrs T. Howland. Mrs Nscol presented a splendid report on the recent, meeting of the North Wellington Federation. 'The com|>etitions resulted: Best bloom, Mrs Rowland 1, Mrs Holland 2, Airs Fletcher 3; plain scones, Mrs Holland 1 and. 3, Mrs Rowland 2; miniature garden, Mrs Stephenson 1, Mrs Holland 2, Mrs Fletcher 3. Special thanks were tendered Mesdames Harris, Rowland and Nicol, also the tea hostesses. The June meeting ds to be hold a week earlier on account of the Show and the competitions will be: Rost bloom, worked handkerchief and eggless cake. Sympathy was. expressed with Mies Stevens in the illness of Mr Stevens. —Longburn correspondent.
