GIFT EVENING.

AIISS N. SUAIAIERS. On Thursday last Alesdamqs MacKen zie and Downing entertained a number of friends in the Coronation Hall, Terrace End, in honour of Aliss Nellie Summers, whose marriage takes place early next month. Little Edna Gerke, of Kimbolton, presented the guest of honour with a shoulder spray, also sprays to Airs Summers and Airs Sheridan. Dancing was enjoyed bv the young folk, the music being supplied by Air L. Spelman (piano) and Air G. Esau (bagpipes), an extra being played by Airs At. J. ALartin, of Longburn. Air J. ATacTvenzie was AI.C. Novelty items were rendered by Airs Halligan ( AVhakarongo), songs Aliss Betty Murphy and Aliss Yvonne, Dalby. Highland fling, Aliss Yvonne Dalby and Air Terry Broad, sailoFs hornpipe. After supper Mrs AlacKcnzie asked Aliss Summers to accept on behalf of the Terrace. End women’s branch of the Labour Party a beautiful hanging brass tray and a jardiniere. Air J. AlncKenzio then called on her to open the handsome array of presents, and before doing so spoke of the popularity and respect in which the Summers family are hold in the Terrace End district. Aliss Summers, assisted by two of her bridesmaids. Aliss Alma Summers and Aliss Peggy AfcPeak, of AVoodville. proceeded to open the parcels. Mr P. Sheridan replied on behalf of his bride-to-he, and briefly expressed his appreciation and thanks for the gifts. Lucky dances were won b\q the following: Alonte Carlo. Aliss Norma Terry and Air AV. Sheridan : lucky partners] Aliss O. Keenan and Air D. Summers; lucky Gay Gordons, Aliss P. Keenan and Air D. Lynch. Triends were present from Linton, Kimbolton, Feilding. AA'oodville. Kopane. AVliakarongo, Ashhurst, Longburn, Kairanga, and Palmerston North.
