TROOP ACTIVITIES.

All Saints’ Troop.—At the meeting of the troop, held on Friday, we liegun with prayers and inspection. Then followed tenderfoot and second-class work in the patrol corners. Several liovs went lor their second-class pace. Others went for their Tenderfoot badge. Afterwards we bad a liaka. practice.' AYe then received instruction about the Faster camp. The meeting closed at 9.15 p.m. after a game of dodge-ball. Fifth (Te Awe Awe) Troop.—On Wednesday evening a “going-up" ceremony was held, in which four Cubs, I). Knowles, N. Berry, M. Doyle and W. Holdwortli. came up to the Scouts. Shortly after this Commissioner Stubbs and Air Knowles (chairman of the committee) arrived. The commissioner gave us a siiort talk on Scouting and stayed the remainder of the evening. Air Knowles presented to the troop a patrol competition cup which has been given by our A.S.AI , Air Poynter. Three hearty cheers were given for A.S.AI., and then general work was carried on in the patrol corners. At the Court of Honour a vote of sympathy was passed to our S Af.’s wife, Airs Axchy, who has unfortunately met with a motor-car accident.
St. Peter’s Troop. —The St. Pefcr’s troop held their meeting on Friday. One more member. H. Turner. joined ii]). Eight boys passed their Kim’s game. Thom was a game of handball which the TTuia iiatrol won, and stealing the knife. There is a roll of 18 members. The points for the evening were: Huia 42, Tui 38, Kingfisher 33 A PROAfPT RESPONSE. Dorman, issued by teFphone an urgent order to all Boy Scouts in the ci f v to turn out for an emergency parade at. the War Alemorial in Gala Street on a recent evening. Forty-five minutes later nearly 120 Bov Smuts, or 85 per cent, of the total Invercargill membership. were formed in troops around the war mem orial. The emergency parade, which is thought to have bemi the first o r its kind held in New Zealand for Bov Scouts, was arranged to coincide with the visit to Invercargill of the Dominion Commissioner (Air H. Christie), of Wanganui. A RECORD. Bexlcyhen.th Roy Scouts set up a record by collecting silver paper worth L2O for the local hospital.
