AWARD FOR BRAVERY. A MODEST SCOOT. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, March 28. The high Scout honour of the silver cross for gallantry was presented to Rover Scout Clifford Mahan by the Governor-General (Viscount Galway), to-day. Mahan saved the life of a young woman bather in Hawke’s Bay early this year. Ix>rd Galway said it gave him great pleasure to present a well-earned decoration. He congratulated Mahan not only on what he did. but also on the quiet way in which he did it. It was only by accident that the authorities heard of his bravery, and this was greatly to Mahan's credit. I Among those present at the function was Air-Marshal Sir Robert Clark-Hall, Dominion Commissioner of Rover Scouts.
