HOCKEY AND FOOTBALL.
It would appear that hockey no longer flourishes in the Pahiatua and Eketahuna districts, commonly known under the ancient misnomer of “the Bush.” Stalwarts of the game who have controlled the Hockey Association are retiring, and the old-time enthusiasm is waning. AVoodville, alone, displays activity, and last season it was practically the strong arm of the association, financially and otherwise. In the event of the Bush Association ceasing to exist, it is understood that Atanawatu would gladly welcome the AVoodville Hockey Club, and unless new life is infused into the Bush Association. the chances are that local hockey players will transfer their energies to Palmerston North. So far as the Rugby game is concerned, last season AVoodville boasted of a junior and also a third grade team. The former, it can Ire said, put up very good performances considering the difficulties it laboured under, and the team possessed some excellent material. The thirds, however, gradually faded out of the picture. The local prospects of the national game lor the ensuing season are somewhat uncertain.
