FRIENDLY SOCIETIES.

CONCERN FOR FUTURE.

(By Telegraph—Special to Standard.) WELLINGTON, March 28.

It was mentioned by Hon. W. Nash (Minister of Finance), at the opening of the Social Security building, that it was very fitting that the first meeting to be held in the new offices was to he that of the committee to consider the utilisation of the friendly societies in the new scheme.

This meeting was held after the guests dispersed, and was fallowed today by a conference of departmental officers with the friendly society representatives, who are naturally concerned regarding the future of their own organisations.

It was later reported that the discussion was of a preliminary nature, and the societies would have the opportunity of making practicable suggestions.
