ATHLETIC UNION’S REASON. Received March 29, 12.15 p.m. SYDNEY, March 28. It was announced at a meeting of the Amateur Athletic Association that the South African Lavery’s time of Usee for the 120 yards hurdles at the Empire Games will not be accepted as an Empire, Australian, or New South Wales record. The Australian Athletic Union gave as its reason, “That the requisite certificate from the referee cannot ho supplied.” For the same reason the 80 metres hurdles time of 11 7-10 sec by Miss Burke (South Africa), and the 220 yards run of 24!sec by Miss Decinia Norman (Australia), were rejected.
