PERSONAL.
The death has occurred, states a cable from Brisbane, of Hon. Michael Patrick Hynes, Minister of Labour and Industry in the Queensland Government. He was aged 53 years. Mr G. McNamara will relinquish his duties as Director-General of the Post and Telegraph Department on Friday next. On April 1 he will begin three months’ leave of absence, during which time the director-general elect, Mr J. G. Young, will assume the duties of the senior position.
At the monthly meeting of the Palmerston North City Council last night, the Mayor (Mr A. E. Mansford) and Cr. W. B. Tennent were appointed to represent the council at a meeting of the executive of the Power Boards’ and Supply Authorities’ Association in Wellington, when a report of the meeting of the executive and a deputation to Hon. It. Semple will be discussed.
