ACQUISITION OF LAND.

NEAV RAILWAY STATION. The acquisition of 17 acres of land adjacent to the site of the new railwaystation is to be discussed by the works committee of the Palmerston North City Council next Alonday night with Messrs E. J. Bertinshaw (chief engineer) and G. H Davis (land officer), representing the Railway Department. The Mayor (Air A. E. Alansford) stated at the City Council meeting last evening that the matter was one of some urgency. The General Alanager of Railways (Air G. H. Mackley), in a letter to the council, said it had been suggested that the land lie acquired by the Pul> lie Works Department on behalf of the Railway Department., and the matter subsequently adjusted with the. City Council. It was hoped that a satisfactory arrangement would be arrived at.
