PERSONAL.

Air W. W. Rowntree, of Christchurch, Tins lieen the guest during the past week of Mr and Airs A. East, of Hopelnnds. Mr Rowntree resided at one time at Pongaroa, and he is remembered by the older residents of that district. For several years he has been living in Christchurch, but he contemplates taking up his future abode in Wellington.

Mr J. P. Mahon, postmaster at Woodville, who has been promoted to a similar position at Waipukurau, will take up his new duties on April 1.
