YOUNG FARMERS’ CLUB,
ANNUAL MEETING
The Woodvi Ile Young Farmers’ Club held its annual meeting last night, Mr W. Toogood presiding over a good attendance.
The. report stated that the year had been a very successlul one. The average attendance bad been 15. A series of debates, lectures and addresses bad been held. Several members had taken part in tours, and had given reports of their impressions. Officers of the Department of Agriculture had afforded much help. Tne lectures had been very instructive. In the group-judging competition at tile National Winter Show at Palmerston North the shield had been won by Mr K. Mitchell. In a physical fitness demonstration at Palmerston North several members had competed, and the club had achieved a measure of success. A number of social functions had proved profitable. Acknowledgment was made of the aid of the Department of Agriculture, the various officers of the club and the Press. The balance-sheet showed that the financial position was very satisfactory. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. Officers were elected as follow: Chairman, Mr H. G. Goldsworthy; secretary, Mr A. Compton; treasurer, Air 15. Fountains ; president, Mr M. D. Murray; advisory committee, Messrs B. C. Leach, J. Mitchell, and W. Toogood, sour; representatives to the annual district meeting, Messrs M. I). Murray, K. Mitchell and H. Goldsworthy ; auditor, Mr W. Norman; committee, Messrs W. Toogood, junr.; R. Cairns, K. Mitchell and P. Tregans. Two ballots took place. Air F. J. S. Holden (Department of Agriculture) addressed the meeting concerning proposed tours by the Afanawatu young farmers. A number intimated that they would attend the camp at Hastings. Air S. Dickins was elected a member. Air K. Mitchell suggested tht afield day l>e held, the last one having taken place three years ago. The chairman and Air Murray supported the proposal. The latter urged members to make a thorough success of the field da v.
It was unanimously resolved to hold a field day and sports rally. Air Murray instanced the demonstrations and lectures which had been featured lately at Pn.hintua. The retiring chairman thanked all who had supported him during the past year. A vote of thanks was accorded the officers, also Air Holden for his attendance. A social committee was elected comprising Messrs F. Ansin, R. Cairns, R. Vowel 1. C. Golder, 0. Rivers and the chairman.
