SOME BODIES RECOVERED

A' fresh avalanche swept the village of Bareges in the Pyrenees. Residents on the outskirts lowered 40 villagers to safety from top storeys. The additional casualties are unknown, but the damage is estimated at £20,000. Skiers are taking food to 38 isolated workmen.
The bodies of 13 victims in the first avalanche on Friday have been recovered.
Bareges is on the French side of the Haute?-Pyrenees, and is known as a summer resort. It has sulphurous springs, and is 4040 ft above sea level. Avalanches on Friday buried 20 workmen near La Cisour and engulfed half of the village of Bareges under 70ft of enow.
