NATIONAL REGISTER URGED
REQUEST IX) MR CHAMBERLAIN.
(British Official Wireless.) RUGBY", March 22. Mr Chamberlain was asked in the House of Commons to-day if, in view of Germany’s attitude in South-East-ern Europe, which menaced the ultimate security of Britain, he would now take immediate steps to introduce a national register. Replying for Mr Chamberlain, Sir Samuei Hoare (Home Secretary) said: “I am not satisfied that in the present conditions the introduction of a complete national register would add anything to the steps which have already been taken by the Government for the security of the country.”
