HOROWHENUA.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) OTAKI, March 23.

Traffic officers Shearer and Fowler were busy this morning, and in consequence several motorists were requested to produce their licenses and warrants of lit-llC-H.

Football matches arc being arranged by the Otaki Club, it being hoped to play both Mirmar and Petone at an early date. A challenge has also been sent to the Shannon Club.

Mrs V. Noble and her daughter, Miss M. Noble, have left for Auckland, to be present at the wedding of Mr I>. Noble to Miss R. Baker. The death occurred recently at Pataruru of Mr Charles Larsen, sixth, son of Mr and Mrs Ole Larsen, of Otaki. Mr Alan Lee, who captained the Australian hockey team when in New Zealand, was recently married. Mr and Mrs Lee have taken up residence at Gremorne (Sydney). Another of the Australian players, recently married, was Mr K. Le Licvrc.

The new bowling green at Paraparaumu Beach has assumed definite shape and should bo in good playing order for next season.

Miss J. Williams, who has been on a holiday tour, has returned. Mr and Mrs H. Mackay, who have been visiting Featherston, have also returned. A number of members of the Municipal Milk Committee (Wellington) were in Otaki to-day. Very little rain has fallen since Christmas and in consequence pastures are parched, and feed scarce. There has been a big fall in tho milk supply. Violets are being picked in Otaki. Lilac is also in bloom.
