FOXTON.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) FOXTON, March 22. Alajor and Airs Coffin, of the Salvation Army, were visitors to F’oxton on Alonday. AJajor Golliin was stationed hero a number of years ago. Airs A. Kinley, of Union Street, is an inmate of the Palmerston North Hospital. Sho was admitted last Thursday suffering from a fractured pelvis which site sustained in a fall outside her home.
At a meeting of tho Foxton Horticultural Society, the president (Mrs Hornblow) presided. The balance-sheet of tho summer show disclosed a loss of £5. Special mention was made of the assistance tho Scout troop had been to the society and a donation was made. Reference was made by Mr D. Christie to the pending departure from Foxton of Mrs R. Owen.! This would, mean a serious loss to the! society, which site had supported very j strongly for a number of years past. The secretary was instructed to forward Mrs Owen a letter of appreciation of her services.
The annual meeting of the Herrington (Men’s) Golf Club was presided over by Mr M. I’. Bergin. (The officers for the vear are: President, Mr Bergin; secretary and treasurer, Mr J. Newton, senrj 'club captain and green superintendent, Mr L. C. Bryant; match committee, Messrs L. C. Bryant, .L. Grotty, and G. M, Newton.
An enjoyable gift evening, organised bv the members of the Presbyterian Ladies’ Guild, was held in honour of Miss Margaret Barron, whewe marriage to Mr K. Alexander, of Wellington, takes place on Saturday next. Rev. Mr Murray conveyed to Miss Barron good wishes for her future happiness and asked her to accept a variety of gifts.
