THE HURDLES EVENT.

SUNEE’S STRONG FINISH. TRENTHAM HORSE’S SUCCESS. Sunee, -who was having his first start over hurdles for some time, came from the rear in the Karere Hurdles to finish strongly and get the verdict by half a length. It was his first success over hurdles. He paraded looking very well and stayed on too well for the opposition. Red Rufus was the only stratehing. Hanover also stripped well, but after being the pacemaker ail the way and being still in front of his field at the last fence, tired quickly in the run to the post. Riotous, who finished second to Sunee. was always near the front and, though he has not been in work very long, held on better than his stable-mate. The race will improve him. Entlieos, prominent all the way, was a good third and Hanover fourth. Southern Blood, who was next, needed the race but was going fairly well in the concluding stages. Ohanga and Warehi jumped badly. CUISINIER AT LAST. FAVOURITE’S AUTUMN PLATE. Installed favourite in a field of 16 runners, Cuisinier. after having filled minor placings in his last five outings, won the Autumn Plate in a close finish. Cuddler did not fulfill his engagement. Tom Tom, having her first start for some time, was only a neck away after making a solid challenge. Verey Lights, the Night Raid—Spoon filly, who with Tom Tom was prominent all the way, was an exceedingly close third. Cherry Picker led all the wav to the straight, but dropped hack in the run home and finished fifth behind Floral Robe, who drew the rails position but did not get away with the bunch and was lying eighth half a mile from home. Ted Prior went a good race for sixth, followed by Snigger and Travail. Hunting Squire showed early pace.
