AIM IN RUTHENIA
MISGIVINGS IN LONDON

The report of increased military activity in Hungary, including the calling up of reservists, many of whom were sent to the Rumanian frontier, is regarded with misgiving in London. It is considered Germany mi o at incite Hungary to attempt to regain the Hungarian minority area from Rumania and then Germany would attack Rumania on the ground that it was necessary to help Hungary. 400,000 MEN MOBILISED. The Budapest correspondent of the Times says it is estimated that Hungary has mobilised 400.001) men, for which the pacification of Ruthenia is an inadequate excuse. It is officially stated in Budapest that Hungarian troops have attained all their objectives in Ruthenia. Reports from the Rumanian frontier state that 35 Ruthenian Sijguard chiefs have been executed in two days and many others placed under arrest. The Hungarians have crossed the Slovak frontier at a few points. Hungarian troops are still pouring into Ruthenia and many civilians are being called up. The Borne correspondent of the Times reports that the Hungarian Premier (Count Teleki) and the Foreign Minister (Count Csaky) warmly thanked Signor Mussolini and Count Ciano (Italian Foreign Minister) for their early realisation of Hungary’s just claims, and for their assistance before Hungary’s occupation of Ruthenia. A Berlin message says Count Teleki telegraphed Herr von Bibbentrop thanking him for the understanding shown Hungary’s claims and his cooperation iii repairing the injustice. He added that it was a further step taken in the interests of the peace!ul existence together of Central European people. Hie former Buthenian Premier (Father Voloshin) and other former Government members have arrived at Belgrade. It is believed that they are going to Berlin. Th.e Hungarian Legation in Paris denies the concentration of Hungarian troops on the Rumanian frontier and adds that some men were called up to reinforce the regiments sent to occupy Ruthenia.
