ATHLETIC CLUB.
END OF SEASON. The local Amateur and Athletic Club wound up a successful season on Saturday afternoon with a sports meeting on the Recreation Ground. Beautiful weather was experienced, and there was a good attendance of the public. The entries in each instance were satisfactory the various events were well contested; in some instances the finishes being very close. In the cyclists’ section the chief race was won by R Miller (Pahiafua), while P. Miller, of Woodville, annexed the principal running event (880yds). In each instance these competitors put up excellent performances. R. Miller also won the two-mile cycle race and was placed second in the one mile. R. Vowell was the winner of the one mile and half-mile events. Prominent runners proved to he E. McNeil. C. Colder, and R. Cook. The results bore out the adjustments made by the handicappers, Messrs R. Hurdle and J. Ecott. The programme was under the direction of the president (Mr _E. .7. Harding), the secretary (Mr W. G. Butler) and several other officials. Results of the events are as follow:
