WELLINGTON, Feb. 20
Inscribed as having been “a bit of a problem” since coming to New Zealand three years ago, Gosai Dul’.abh. aged 20, a Hindu labourer, appeared before Mr J. H. Luxford, S.M., on four charges of the theft of sums ranging from 5s 5d to £1 17s 6d. “Ho is regarded very unfavourably by his fellow countrymen, and his chief pastime seems to have been writing indecent letters and sending them through the post to other Indians,” said Detective-Sergeant Doyle. The Magistrate took the course of sending accused to the Borstal for two years.
Ten days with hard labour the sentence imposed on Frederick Hazel, aged 27, a labourer, who was arrested for being drunk in charge of a. motor cycle. He lost his license for twelve months.
