JEWELLER’S SHOP RAIDED.

THEFT OF WATCHES. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, Feb. 20. Thieves carried out a smash and grab raid on a jewellery shop at Milton on Saturday night. They were evidently disturbed for, after taking a quantity of articles from the window, mostly women’s watches, they left untouched rings and watches well within their reach. A diamond was used to cut a circle about nine inches in diameter and a brick was then used to break a larger hole, and through this hole watches of a fairly substantial value were removed. Tile window was cracked from top to bottom, and the falling glass caused considerable damage to crystal and chinawarc.
