OBITUARY.
AIR C. H. WEST. The passing of Air C. H. West, of Halcombe. which occurred on Thursday last, removes a resident who was well respected by a wide circle of friends. He was born in Clatford, England, and was the second son of the late Rev. J. 0. At. West. He was educated at St. Edward’s School, Oxford, and later at Eton, where to took part in the various sports, notably rowing. At one time Air AVe.st was employed in the Bank of England, but owing to ill-health he had to relinquish that occupation and came to New Zealand under medical advice. During Ids residence in the Dominion, Air West managed several farms in the Alanawatu and Hawke’s Bay districts, and in his declining rears lived at Halcombe. Besides his widow he leaves two sons, Alessrs Mi ton West (Waikanae) and Trevor West (Halcombe). There are also two brothers and sisters in England. The funeral took place at the Eeildjn<r Cemetery on Saturday morning •uul was attended by many friends. The pall-bearers were Air West’s sons ami Alessrs Porter, McDonald, Apel and Hughes. Rev. F. E. Finery, of Kimbolton, conducted the service.
