GRANT APPROVED

INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL. SUAI OF £50,000 ALLOCATED. Approval of a grant of £50,000 for the erection of the new Intermediate School in Ferguson Street, Palmerston North, has been made by Cabinet, according t.o information received by Mr J. Modgcns. M.P., front the Minister of Education (Hon. P. Fraser), in Wellington to-dav.

Air Hudgens informed the "Standard" this afternoon that the decision by Cabinet will enable work to proceed immediately on the new structure. which will be among the most up-to-date of its kind in the Dominion. Embracing a wide scope of instruction along modern lines, the school will he a decided acquisition to the eitv and will furnish every iaeilitv for extending the present range of education.

Tt is understood that the Wanganui Education Board has given consideration to tenders for the new work.
