SUMMONING OF PARLIAMENT.

Received January 21. 9.55 a.m. LONDON. Jan. 20.

The Prime Minister (Mr Chamberlain) has refused Mr C. R. Attlee s second request to summon Parliament.

The Leader of the Labour Opposition wrote a second time to Mr Chamberlain expressing surprise at the contention that, abandonment of non-intervention m bpam would involve grave consequences tie pointed out that Mr Chamberlain told the Houso of Commons on November 2 that Spain was no longer a menace to _ the peace of Europe, and added that, the situation was most serious and needed urgent action on a larger scale hi order to prevent the wholesale starvation of women and children. Mr Attlee again urged the summoning of Parliament without delay.
