(From Our Own Correspondent.) FOXTON, Dec. 21. Mr W. Riddle, cf Avenue Road, is ail inmate of - a private hospital in Palmerston North. Mr and Mrs E. Ingram, of Hawera, and Mr and Mrs G. Taylor, of Wellington, will spend Christmas in Foxton. Miss Shirley Barron, of Mangapurua Valley, in lington, are on holiday with their parents, Mr and Mrs D.. R. Barron. Messrs . !’. Kano, of' Ohakirnc, and W. Kane, of \Vpllingtonfi are on holiday with their parents, Mr; and Mrs T. Kane. Mr A. C. Murphy is staying with his parents, Mr and. Mi's K. J. Murphy. Miss Agnes McKenzie, of Wellington, is spending the ■ holidays with Mr , and Mrs W. R. McKenzie, and Miss Barbara Staff, also of Wellington, is with Mr and . Mrs G. Scadden.The Presbyterian Ladies’ Guild entertained the pupils of the Sunday School at an anniversary tea. Games were indulged in until the arrival of Father Christinas and the distribution of sweets and balloons from a well-filled basket. The annual prize-giv-ing then took place, every scholar being presented with a prize by Father Christmas. Sunday school teachers present were Mrs J. Symon and Misses B. Speirs and Jean McKenzie.

The chairman's report which was presented at the 67th annual meeting of th'e trustees of the Manawatu racecourse read as follows: The credit balance at the bank amounts to £l4 3s. The Foxton Racing Club stewards have, during the past year, carried out the duties as set out in the lease and the following is a summary of the money expended in repairs and maintenance: Manure, £lO 16s lid; painting. £73 13s 3d; plumbing. £26 11s 8d; timber for repairs, etc., £6l 9s lid: seed. £1 3s 3d; trees for planting, £l6 10s 6d, making a total of £l9O 5s 6d. Mr E. Christensen also grew and planted free a large number of trees. Owing to the continued increase of patrons it has been found necessary to enlarge the main stand and plans are now being made to have a new building completed for the club’s next fixture. At the monthly meeting of the Group Scout Committee Mr James Macdonald presided over a record attendance. Scoutmaster Rctter gave a report on the recent birthday party which was held in Victoria Park in the form of a campfire evening. Mr Macdonald and Mr A. G; Thomson complimented both the leaders and Scouts on the fine performance. The secretary was asked to forward a letter of appreciation to Scoutmaster Sicsser, of Marton, who gave valuable assistance as leader of the community sing.-
