BOWLING.
One of the finest games which has ever been played on the local bowling green was that lately between L. McKinlay and H. P. Horne, in the second round of the championship singles. On the 13th head McKinlay had scored 18 and Horne 8. On the 16th head, McKinlay added another point, making his score 19. His opponent then scored consistently on the succeeding heads till he drew level, on the completion of the 21st head, with McKinlay 19 all. The procedure under the new rules was followed, when the extra head became necessary. In the toss for Kitty, Horne won and threw a long head, in which, he scored two points, thus winning the match, 21—19. McKinlay played splendid bow’s throughout, but was riot quite equal to his opponent's skilful handling of the game, even when, at one stage, tho odds seemed much against Horne.
During the holiday season, progressive pairs tournaments will take place. The club competitions are proceeding at intervals, but have been hindered by the stormy weaslier. Some speeding up will now be required.
