LESSONS FROM AUSTRALIA?
(United Press Association —By Electric' Telegraph—Copyright.) Received December 17, 9.20 a.m, TORONTO, Dec. 16. The Premier of Ontario (Mr M. F. Hepburn) announces that he is sailing for Australia shortly after the New Year to study Commonwealth bank and social legislation. He will be accompanied by the Minister of Works (Mr Colin Campbell) and Mr Chester Walters (deputy-Provin-cial Treasurer). The announcement followed the Premier’s vigorous criticism of the _ financial policy of the Prime Minister (Mr Mackenzie King) as “merely drifting.”
Mr Hepburn demands an immediate refunding of the national debt, pr-e----dieting bankruptcy in three years if this is not done. He declares that Australia is reported to have found the the real solution and he is going over there to find out. Mr Hepburn’s visit is regarded as another step in the open warfare between Mr Hepburn and the Prime Minister, which is crystallised in .Ml Hepburn’s declaration that the 1 rime Minister is unable to load his party m a solution of the economic problems.
