RONGOTEA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) RONGOTEA, Dec. 16. An earthquake was experienced in Rongotea on Thursday evening. The shake was unusually long, being accompanied by a loud rumbling noise. No damage has been reported. ■ For a cosiderablo time following the ’quake cattle were very disturbed. Friday morning broke clear and sunny, but it was only a brief time till heavy clouds gathered, and the rain came down in sheets. Haymaking is going on throughout the district, hundreds of acres being cut and lying in the paddock; farmers are experiencing a harassing time this season. Mr and Mrs W. J Amieß, of Rongotea, left this morning for Taupo; they expect to bo away three weeks on a camping tour in the north.
