(From Our Own Correspondent.) SANSON, Dec. 16. An enjoyable afternoon was spent by parents and friends at the Sanson School. The afternoon commenced with guinea and races. The races were won as follow: Standards 5 and 6. D. Bishop 1, F. Butler 2. Standards 3 and 4, P. Butler 1, P Bradnoek 2. Standards 1 and 2 boys, if. Wycherley 1, L. Cole 2, S. Collier 3. Standards 1 and 2 girls, M. Currie 1, M. Sanson 2, D. Fordyco 3. Primer 4 boys, L. Cockburn I,' M. Moyer 2 Primer 4 girls, P. Bartlett 1. J. Young 2. Primer 3, I. Reed 1, A. JCllerm 2. Tiny lots, K. Collier 1, F. Collier 2. Junior treasure hunt, all received a gift. Senior treasure hunt: Girls, F. Butler, P. Butler, J. Cole and M. Richardson; boys, R. Scandlyn, A. Scivcrs and G. Currie. Standards 5 and 6 balloon raco, M. Tostevin 1, L. Fordyco 2. Standards 3 and 4 sack raco: Boys, D. MacConachio 1, W. Telford 2, K. Col Her 3. Standards 1,2. 3 and 4 balloon race, P. Bradnoek, N. Tattle, J. Scandlyn. Tiny tots’ race, Iv. Collier, I. Reed, 1,. Currie. After the games and races an adjournment was mado to the public hall, where a display of handwork by the children was on exhibition, and the annual prize-giving took place. Mr F. S. Collier (chairman of tho School Committee) said it gavo the committee pleasure to see so many parents and friends present. The work during tho year had been of a,high standard and the inspector’s report had been most satisfactory. Tho efforts of the pupils in , assisting to raise money had enabled tho committee to purchase a motor mower, and tho grounds were now able to be kept in excellent order. A proposal to erect swimming baths had been brought forward and if a suitable water supply could bo obtained it was the intention of tho committee to go on with tho proposal. Mr Collier congratulated tho teachers and pupils on their excellent work. Mr Beattie (headmaster) thanked Mr Collier for his remarks and paid a tributo to his assistant, Miss Ralfo, who had been responsible for tho wonderful display of handwork, which was now considered to be a most important department in school work. The children sang '“Still as the Night.” On behalf of the pupils Marie Tostevin presented Miss Ralfe with a gold bracelet as a token of love and appreciation. Mr Collier then called on Mrs Collier to present the prizes. Each child was the recipient, of a hook. Special prizes were awarded to Merle Richardson (dux of school), Dora Bishop (senior sewing prize), Josie Scandlyn ((junior sewing prize), and Ray Fagan (junior handwork prize). Merle Richardson, on behalf of Standard 6, presented Mr Beattio with a gift as a mark of appreciation.
